Guardianship and Trusteeship: The Legal and Financial Aspects of Transitioning to Adulthood
December 12, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The transition from children’s services to adult services can be an exciting time in a young adult’s life, but it can also be a time of uncertainty and challenge for the family. Children’s Link Society and McMan Youth Family and Community Services have designed a workshop for parents to address some the main issues for families who have youth ages 16 and up and moving into the adult service system.
Lorna Selig from Children’s Link will discuss the Transition Process as it relates to the following:
PDD – Persons with Developmental Disabilities
AISH – Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped
OPG – Office of the Public Guardian (Guardianship / Trusteeship)
Lorna is the Transition Consultant at The Children’s Link Society. She supports families to complete the documentation that is required for youth with disabilities to move into the adult services system. The whole process seems daunting for many parents, however the paperwork can be completed easily with the method that Lorna has developed. Lorna facilitates the Transition to Adulthood Workshops, which are held twice monthly at the Children’s Link. As well, she is the chairperson for the Annual Transition Resource Fair.
If you are unable to attend in person, this workshop will be available online through CES, please click here or on the image below to register.
