Managing Anxiety In ASD Workshop

April 21, 2016, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

This workshop will provide an overview of why anxiety is common in individuals with autism and how to manage anxiety across multipole settings (home, school and community).  Parents and caregivers will also learn how to implement effective strategies for emotional regulation and stress management.

Workshop Speaker

Dr. Katelyn Lowe is Clinical Director at The Ability Hub. Katelyn and her team are deepening their understanding of transition planning for adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders across the lifespan through an innovative program called Launch. The goal of Launch is to understand and work with participants’ strengths and to develop goals for individuals and their families to guide their efforts toward meaningful community engagement. The program links participants with navigators in The Ability Hub’s Resource Centre, enabling them to find the programs and services they need to be successful and to live as independently as possible.

Katelyn is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Calgary and is involved in numerous research projects that are translating new knowledge and technologies in developmental neurosciences into autism programming, clinical training and service delivery.
