Safety can be a very real concern for all adolescents and young adults, but especially for individuals with Autism.  This presentation will include safety and security tips for staying safe in and around your community; including at home and in cyber space.

Presenter:       A/Cst. Devon Ouellette, Vulnerable Persons Unit, Calgary Police Service

Bio: Devon has been with the CPS since 2010.  He worked downtown till 2015 until applying to work in the vulnerable persons unit.  Along with his duties working with Persons experiencing homelessness and addictions he was given the Disabilities portfolio in the fall of 2017.  He’s worked with persons with disabilities outside of work since Jr. high achieving special credits for developing industrial arts programing for the students.  Devon has been coaching Special Olympics for the last 10 years and volunteering with The Law Enforcement Torch Run, and organization that raises money to support the Special Olympics.  In the near future he’ll be taking courses to learn sign language to help bring down barriers that the hearing impaired might face when reporting events to the police.
