Time To Get Up And Go To Work! Strategies to increase employment readiness

In this presentation, participants will learn about the basic steps to gain and maintain successful employment. Beginning with pre-employment skills such as exploring interests, resume writing, and job searching, through to interview skills and other self-advocacy skills (e.g., seeking supports, disclosure), participants will learn about a variety of strategies to help individuals with autism be successful in the workforce.
Dr. Shane Lynch (Special Education) is a Registered Psychologist and the Director of Professional Practice and Evaluation for The Sinneave Family Foundation. He oversees the Launch + Skills program as well as the Resource Centre. Prior to coming to Sinneave, Shane was in clinical practice for over 20 years serving individuals, families, schools, and agencies as they supported individuals with autism.
Ian Humphreys is a Skills Coach for the Launch + Skills program at The Sinneave Family Foundation. In addition, he is also the Coordinator of EmploymentWorks; a program designed to raise employment preparedness through training and support, combined with job sampling and hands-on experience. Prior to joining The Sinneave Family Foundation, Ian also worked as an Employment Placement Specialist and has experience with employer engagement and collaboration from his time as a member of the Calgary Employment First Network.
This workshop will be available in person and as a webinar through a partnership between Sinneave and AHS Community Education Services.
