Participants will need to bring their own device and have an existing subscription to Minecraft games. SUMMARY:Social Communication Workshop: Strategies for Entering Conversations & Finding Common Interests
DESCRIPTION:Starting a conversation with someone new or joining in a conversation that is already underway can be difficult. In this workshop\, we will learn and practice a few strategies to help you enter into conversations more confidently whether that’s through one-on-one or group conversations. \n\n\n\nDuring the time we have together\, you will gain the skills and knowledge to: \n\n\n\n\nFeel more comfortable and confident in your communication skills\n\n\n\nExplain what is required for good conversation\n\n\n\nIdentify ways to find a good conversation partner and show you’re interested in talking\n\n\n\nPractice strategies for starting and continuing conversations\n\n\n\nPrepare a list of future conversation topics\n\n\n\nPractice troubleshooting communication experiences\n\n\n\n\nThis session is one of several drop-in workshops we offer that are designed to provide Autistic or neurodivergent individuals opportunities to learn and practice essential social communication skills in a safe and welcoming setting. \n\n\n\nEach 90-minute workshop covers a different aspect of social communication\, providing information\, tips\, and strategies intended to help in day-to-day social situations. There is no cost to attend these sessions. If you register in advance you’ll be notified of any last minute changes to the schedule\, but you can also just drop-in. DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to be partnering with the Centre for Sexuality on a new initiative that adapts the Centre’s Relationship & Sexual Health program for Autistic adults. This program has provided vital information to youth about sexual health and healthy relationships. We are excited to be adapting this program for adults with autism to bring this information to you. \n\n\n\nPresented in a welcoming and inclusive space\, through a neuroaffirming lens\, these interactive workshops present an opportunity to learn about the hallmarks of healthy relationships in a safe space. These workshops start Tuesday\, October 14 and continue weekly for eight weeks. In this workshop\, we’ll talk about strategies you can learn and practice to help you leave a conversation or end a conversation in tactful ways whether that’s through one-on-one or group conversations. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, you will gain the skills and knowledge to:  \n\n\n\n\nDiscuss strategies for exiting conversations\n\n\n\nRecognizing disinterest in communication\n\n\n\nManaging rejection & moving forward\n\n\n\nSetting the stage for future engagements\n\n\n\n\nThis session is one of several drop-in workshops we offer that are designed to provide Autistic or neurodivergent individuals opportunities to learn and practice essential social communication skills in a safe and welcoming setting. We have several rooms and spaces available–a quiet lounge\, computer desks\, hang out sofas–you choose. It’s your time to use your way. \n\n\n\nOur space provides flexible seating options\, focus tools\, and adjustable lighting options as we strive to make our space more welcoming and inclusive to those who wish to spend time in it. \n\n\n\nOur drop-in hours are 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere are some suggestions of things you may like to do\, but this is not an exhaustive list: \n\n\n\n\nSocializing: Chat with others\, make new connections\, or catch up with friends\n\n\n\nUsing Computers: Access  the internet\, complete personal tasks\, or explore hobbies online. Use our computers and wifi or bring your own device and connect via our network\n\n\n\nRelaxing: Sit quietly\, read\, listen to music with headphones\, or just enjoy the calm space\n\n\n\nIndependent Work: Bring personal projects\, homework or studying you may need to do\, or use the time to focus on tasks\n\n\n\nUnstructured Activities: puzzles\, sketching\, journaling\, or engaging in other personal hobbies\n\n\n\nExploring Resources: Learn about other programs\, events\, or services Sinneave offers\n\n\n\nSimply Being: Spend time in the space without any specific activity\, just enjoying the presence of others without any expectations to engage\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo ensure a welcoming and safe space for all users\, please read over the Rules of the Space before you arrive: \n\n\n\n\nCheck-In is Required: Everyone signs in upon arrival\n\n\n\nNo Alcohol or Drugs: This is a substance-free space for everyone’s safety and comfort\n\n\n\nRespectful Content and Behavior: No engagement with explicit content and all interactions should be respectful\n\n\n\nNoise Levels: Keep volume moderate to accommodate diverse activities\n\n\n\nNo formal supervision provided: Attend and engage independently

SUMMARY:Supporting Healthy Relationships: Participant Workshop 
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to be partnering with the Centre for Sexuality on a new initiative that adapts the Centre’s Relationship & Sexual Health program for Autistic adults. This program has provided vital information to youth about sexual health and healthy relationships. We are excited to be adapting this program for adults with autism to bring this information to you. \n\n\n\nPresented in a welcoming and inclusive space\, through a neuroaffirming lens\, these interactive workshops present an opportunity to learn about the hallmarks of healthy relationships in a safe space. These workshops start Tuesday\, October 14 and continue weekly for eight weeks. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning more about all the stages of the employment journey and the steps you can take to lead you on a path to success? We are offering a series of workshops that cover many topics related to finding a job\, keeping a job\, and thriving in the workplace.  \n\n\n\nThe session on Wednesday\, October 22 will focus on matching your strengths to the right jobs. Specifically\, you will have the opportunity to: \n\n\n\n\nLearn about your strengths and how your strengths can help you find the right job for you and\,\n\n\n\nIdentify your strengths and interests which will help with aligning your job search to industries and roles that are a good match.\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop combines classroom instruction and time to practice what you’ve learned with support from the facilitators\, if needed.
