DESCRIPTION:Increase your confidence in the kitchen with our Joy of Cooking: Cooking Skills for Independent Living class! The menu for this class is Oven Baked Personal Pizza with Rutabaga Fries and dipping sauce! \n\n\n\nWhether independent living is a short term goal and you’re planning to move out soon\, or it’s a long-term goal for some time in the future – you can begin preparing for it now–starting in the kitchen! \n\n\n\nThis hands-on session is a great way to help you sharpen your skills. \n\n\n\nWhile preparing a tasty menu\, participants will also learn about: \n\n\n\n\nthe importance of good hygiene\n\n\n\ncleanliness in the kitchen and the importance of preventing cross-contamination\n\n\n\nthe proper use of utensils\n\n\n\nhow to properly measure and prepare food\, and\n\n\n\nworking with others.\n\n\n\n\nAnd then\, you’ll get to enjoy what you’ve made! \n\n\n\nJoin us Monday\, January 13\, 2025 \n\n\n\n5:00 – 8:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nat The Ability Hub (300\, 3820 24 Avenue NW) \n\n\n\nThis activity is in-person only and limited to six participants. Registration for this session is required and takes place on Sinneave Connects\, our online Learning Hub.  \n\n\n\nImportant Information: \n\n\n\n\nThere will only be light support provided by staff\, so participants need to be able to follow instructions and be willing to work in a small group to prepare the meal.\n\n\n\nAll supplies will be provided.\n\n\n\nParticipants are asked to stay and help clean up after the activity concludes.\n\n\n\nPlease inform us of any allergies BEFORE the event.\n\n\n\n\nOnce the first 6 spaces fill up\, you can choose to add your name to a Waiting List. Sydney is a former Launch + Skills participant who attended SAIT and graduated in 2022 with a professional cooking diploma.  \n\n\n\nWhen Sydney isn’t working on her business or YouTube cooking channel\, she likes to relax by listening to music\, reading\, writing\, and knitting. Being creative and cooking a variety of dishes is something she really enjoys and her two favourite dishes are keto lemon cheesecake and a family recipe called Grandma’s Cheesy Potato’s. \n\n\n\nNow\, she wants to share her knowledge and love of cooking with others on the spectrum\, inspiring them to develop confidence in the kitchen and build skills for independent living and delicious eating!

DESCRIPTION:In this two-part series (attending both is encouraged but not required)\, we will share practical and accessible strategies that all businesses can use to foster neuroinclusion throughout each stage of the employee life cycle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur presenters will begin with brief refresher of the takeaways from the first webinar (Dec. 11\, 2024). \n\n\n\nPart Two will focus on the last three phases of the employee life cycle: learning and development\, retention\, and separation.
