SUMMARY:Social Communication Workshop: Strategies for Entering Conversations & Finding Common Interests
DESCRIPTION:Starting a conversation with someone new or joining in a conversation that is already underway can be difficult. In this workshop\, we will learn and practice a few strategies to help you enter into conversations more confidently. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, you will gain the skills and knowledge to: \n\n\n\n\nFeel more comfortable and confident in your communication skills\n\n\n\nExplain what is required for good conversation\n\n\n\nIdentify ways to find a good conversation partner and show you’re interested in talking\n\n\n\nPractice strategies for starting and continuing conversations\n\n\n\nPrepare a list of future conversation topics\n\n\n\nPractice troubleshooting communication experiences\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, March 36:00 – 7:30 p.m.In-person at The Ability Hub (300\, 3820 24 Ave NW)There is no cost to attend this drop-in workshop                                                                    \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed to provide Autistic and neurodivergent individuals opportunities to learn and practice essential social communication skills in a safe and welcoming setting. Participants will be provided with information\, tips\, and strategies intended to help in day-to-day social situations. \n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\n\n\nYonatan Tesfagiorgis is a Life Skills Coach at The Sinneave Family Foundation and has been working with neurodivergent and Autistic individuals for over 8 years.
