Application Deadline: Dec. 24, 2013
Anticipated Start Date: Feb. 1, 2014

Would you like to play a key role in piloting a new program to help young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, aged 18-29? Do you have experience as a Project Manager?

Autism Calgary Association (ACA) is a registered charity, striving towards a future in which individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder live meaningful and purposeful lives in a community that values them. WITH PRECISION – Autism Employment Project is a new and exciting endeavour of ACA.

Our goal is to pilot a work experience program that will utilize the special skills of young adults with Autism in computer-related tasks such as software testing, digitization and network administration. We envision the Calgary pilot to be the first of many in Canada, and with the support of the Sinneave Family Foundation and the Government of Canada, we are excited to begin that journey.

This 14-month pilot will select, assess, and match young people with employers who will provide them with a customized work experience, give them opportunities to work in a suitable team environment, help them learn the ways of the workplace, and initiate their careers. Every week, project staff will monitor, support and train participants in life skills and help them to adapt to their work situation. In the end, we plan to place most of the participants in a suitable job.
