The Canadian Psychological Association recently published a special issue of Psynopsis focused on the development of policies, programs and services for autistic people and their families. The issue aims to raise awareness of the need for individualized and effective interventions across the lifespan (including supports for adults), building capacity among clinicians and educators, and ensuring autistic Canadians are not excluded from evidence-based mental health care. Drs. Weiss, Lowe and Lunsky describe how individuals are often denied access to mental health treatment because of their autism diagnosis.
