The Canadian Autism Leadership Summit was held on April 4th and 5th in Ottawa. This year’s Summit was attended by more than 170 leaders from Canada’s autism community. The Summit included a number of updates on national initiatives, and perhaps the most memorable moments were provided by powerful presentations from a group of inspirational self-advocates. The self-advocates encouraged the autism community to continue to work together toward a vision of full-citizenship within Canada’s communities for every person with autism.
This year’s Summit also piloted a poster session. Forty posters on a wide variety of topics were presented and the feedback around the information shared and the opportunity for networking was overwhelmingly positive. The Sinneave Family Foundation sent six staff to this year’s event and participated in five poster presentations.
Day two of the Summit incorporated Autism on the Hill. This year a record number of MP’s and Senators attended Autism on the Hill and showed their support for a National Autism Strategy!
