Sinneave is engaging the autism community, particularly autistic adults, to help identify priorities and needs in the community. What we learn during the community engagement project will help us plan our activities, programs, services and advocacy in 2023 and beyond.

Two Sinneave staff are working together to facilitate the community engagement project. Elysha De Jong is an autistic self-advocate and she will be leading focus group discussions. Amy Lonsberry is the Project Officer responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project.

There are four phases to the Community Engagement Project:

Phase 1 (June 2022) – Focus groups to provide insights and guidance on problems, priorities and solutions. Phase 1 of the project is now complete. Thank you to everyone that answered the call and signed up for one of the community engagement sessions. The response was so good that we added a session!

Phase 2 (August 2022) – Online survey. The survey is in development and will be shared via email and on social media – stay tuned!

Phase 3 (September 2022) – Review feedback from focus groups and survey to identify community priorities and solutions here in Alberta.

Phase 4 (October 2022) – Further community engagement on proposed new programs, services, and initiatives that align with priorities identified by the autistic community.
