What is this conference about?

The 1st Annual CRDSSA Disability Research Conference will center on research that considers the ways in which social, cultural, and political forces impact the disabled experience. The day will include three keynote presentations from Dr. Alan Martino, Dr. Gregor Wolbring, and Dr. Katrina Milaney, two meals, a community panel where you can meet potential future employers, and networking sessions for students, faculty, and community partners.

Thanks to generous donations from the Sinneave Family Foundation and Community Health Sciences department, this conference will be free of charge to all attendees!

When and where will this conference be held?

The conference will be an all day event held on Saturday, March 25th 2023 on the 7th floor of MacKimmie Tower.

How do I apply?

This conference is intended to be accessible to students, so don’t worry about your abstract being perfect, we just want a general idea about what you will be presenting on! If you would like support in making an abstract you may also reach out to the CRDSSA for guidance.

Presentations will be PowerPoint slides or posters and can be on a variety of topics:

  • 3 minute Thesis
  • Community-based research
  • Research conducted with a supervisor
  • A paper you wrote in class
  • A presentation you did as a group (you may present these with your group or independently)
  • A practicum project
  • A topic you think needs to be discussed
  • Anything else!

About the CRDSSA 

CRDSSA’s mission is to advocate on behalf of the needs of CRDS students, and to work in partnership with students and faculty to continually promote and implement positive change in the CRDS program. We approach our jobs with passion and commitment so that we may continue to provide support and opportunities for students to facilitate relationships amongst themselves and the faculty.
