The CommunityWorks Canada® (CWC) program at The Ability Hub recently wrapped up its Spring program cycle, and we had the very good fortune of working with an incredible group of volunteers, peer mentors and community partners. Together, we tackled various jobs including the creation of enhancement toys for animals at the Calgary Zoo, and recycling mattress materials with Re-Matt to reduce landfill waste. Each of our community partner venues provided opportunities to practice job skills and gain valuable work experience, while giving back to the local community.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the dedicated volunteers and community partners who provided their time and space to support the program. Some of the organizations we had the pleasure of partnering with include:  Calgary Public Library, Renfrew Educational Services, Calgary Winter Club, City of Calgary Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, Calgary Zoo, Ray of Light Holistic Living, Re-Matt Inc. and Brown Bagging for Kids.

We would like to extend a special congratulations to our recent CWC Award Winners, as follows:

Community Partner Award: Re-Matt Inc., Bro’kin Yolk
Volunteer Leadership Award: Kate Nuique, Maddie Kyne
Volunteer Award for Personal Excellence: Daniel Lonsdale, Nadav Maydar
