Disability Employment Awareness Month 2020 | September 30, 2020

The Sinneave Family Foundation (Sinneave) celebrates Disability Employment Awareness Month every October. We recognize inclusive employers and draw attention to the value of inclusion in the workplace. Sinneave remains actively involved in advancing solutions to the complex problem of under-employment for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Currently, we are conducting an Autistic-Inclusive Workplaces Survey to hear directly from employers and Human Resources professionals about strategies to create autistic-inclusive workplaces. The survey will be open until the end of October, 2020 and the results will inform a new toolkit for employers under development–don’t miss out on your opportunity to contribute! To access an early preview of the toolkit, please visit our Worktopia website.

Sinneave is hosting a virtual booth at the 25th Annual National Supported Employment Conference to share strategies for supporting success in the workplace for autistic employees. We are also providing an ‘Ignite Employment’ presentation on October 6, 2020 at the Canadian Autism Leadership Summit, to invite broader participation in the National Worktopia Employment Network and to maintain the momentum gained through this impactful initiative. Sinneave continues to work with partners across the country to increase labour force participation and improve employment outcomes for autistic Canadians through enhanced virtual offerings of the EmploymentWorks program, and we are in the process of creating additional online training opportunities that will be coming very soon.

Please join us in celebrating Disability Employment Awareness Month (#DEAM) by being a champion for inclusive workplaces within your sphere of influence. Together we can change the odds of employment success for members of our community, including those on the autism spectrum.

Sincerely,

Tanya McLeod, President

The Sinneave Family Foundation
