The Sinneave Family Foundation, in partnership with the University of Calgary, Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and Alberta Health Services were pleased to bring Dr. Nicole Letourneau to Grand Rounds at Alberta Children’s Hospital on Monday, January 23rd and thank her for her informative presentation “EvidenceNetwork.ca: Accomplishments and Opportunities”.
The aim of this joint initiative was to encourage health researchers to share their knowledge more broadly to increase the systems impact of their work. Dr. Letourneau discussed the importance of researchers creating connections between their work and real-world issues. She highlighted that there is a growing collective of researchers and subject matter experts who are sharing their learning and findings in compelling ways with both the public and policy makers through the use of Opinion Editorials (Op-Eds). The Evidence Network supports these linkages by creating original media content on health policy topics for publication in the mainstream media. Dr. Letourneau’s presentation was followed by a productive one-hour interactive workshop on how to write Op-Eds. Many great examples of Op-Eds are readily accessible at EvidenceNetwork.ca.
Dr. Letourneau is ACHF Chair in Parent-Infant Mental Health, RESOLVE Alberta Director & Principal Investigator CHILD Studies Program, and Professor, Faculty of Nursing as well as Research Professor, Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
