Launch + Skills Spotlight on Amanda – November 2020

Amanda joined the Launch + Skills program in the fall of 2019 with the goal of finding employment and learning how to navigate the challenges that life brings to us all. Amanda came to the program with a list of personal successes such as a certificate in General Arts and Science from Mount Royal University, a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Calgary, and a Library Technician Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

When Amanda is not earning degrees, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Amanda also really enjoys editing and is an advisor on LEAG (Lived Experience Advisory Group), where she plays an important role in helping create the content and structure for the future online college prep course Autism Campus Prep (formally known as Excel Campus Prep).

When asked about the driving factors of her past and current successes, Amanda noted “I feel that self-motivation is my drive to succeed, and the help and support of my transition specialist and skills coach – as well as my family and friends – contributed to my success”.

Amanda’s advice to anyone thinking of joining the program would be to “get involved in Launch + Skills, because you have so much to offer to society, and you will be amazed at what you are able to achieve through the program”.

Thanks to Amanda for sharing a bit of her story, and we look forward to hearing about your continued success in the future!

The Launch + Skills program is being offered through virtual options at this time and enrollment is on-going.  For more information about Launch + Skills, please email info@sinneavefoundation.org.
