November 22nd was National Housing Day!
National Housing day acknowledges the work done by hundreds of organizations and thousands of people working across Canada with a shared vision that everyone has a place to call home. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the work that still needs to be done.
Did you know that the 2017 Canadian survey on disability estimates that 60% of autistic adults live with their families, 74% need help with at least one every day activity and the average income for autistic Canadians is $9765.
At The Sinneave Family Foundation (Sinneave) we believe every autistic Albertan has the right to housing that is safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable. To support autistic Albertans on their housing journey, Sinneave has launched NEW Housing and Supports webpages.
The Housing and Supports Section of the website, includes information about autistic Albertans need for housing and supports, types of housing and supports, and housing opportunities in Alberta. Content related to taking your next steps, longer-term considerations, and models around the world is in development and will be added in the coming months.
