SUCCESS IN THE WORKPLACE: Strategies from Autistic Employees Toolkit is a collection of resources that specifically meet the needs of autistic adults and the businesses that hire them. The project to develop the toolkit kicked off in March, 2020.
The project team is packing the toolkit with simple, innovative, autistic-approved tools that employers can use to support autistic employees, and help them achieve success in the workplace. An actually autistic author is writing the toolkit, and a team of autistic employees, employers and human resource professionals is reviewing the content to ensure its usefulness for employers.
To support development of the toolkit, The Sinneave Family Foundation (Sinneave) conducted surveys of both autistic workers and inclusive employers. Click on the images below for links to the three infographics sharing key learnings from the surveys. The infographics and the framework for the toolkit can also be viewed on the Worktopia website. Sections of the toolkit will be released in the coming months. Sign-up to receive email updates as toolkit content is released.
Sinneave is leading the project with partial funding from an Autism Speaks Canada Family Services Community Grant. The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration in Autism (CIRCA) from UBC, the Pacific Autism Family Network and the Prince George Adult Autism Stakeholders Group are collaborating on elements of the toolkit.
Sinneave is presenting key learnings from both surveys at two upcoming conferences: The National Supported Employment Conference on September 29th-October 1st, and the Canadian Autism Leadership Summit on October 5th and 6th.
