Supported Independent Living for Autistic Albertans
In recognition of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Sinneave joined The School of Public Policy to host a facilitated conversation on Supported Independent Living for Autistic Albertans. The intent was to convene a cross sector panel for a focused discussion on the specific need for affordable housing and supports for autistic Albertans. A significant population of autistic adults are aging into both the need and desire to live as independently as possible. Many autistic adults remain living at home, and therefore it is not clear what the current size of need is.
Sinneave is targeting September 2020 to host a two day pan Alberta housing and supported independent living event in collaboration with the Alberta Autism Alliance. This was one of many conversations that will take place in the coming year to help inform the planning and building of a relevant and productive agenda for the event.
In the next few weeks, we will finalize the specific date, location and venue. We plan to have some early thinking to share with those who have expressed an interest in planning and/or attending the event, and will be reaching out to invite feedback. If you are interested in receiving updates about the event and/or to provide input into planning, please click on the image below and complete the form before the end of December, 2019.
