In October, The Ability Hub celebrated a very important milestone–it’s Fifth Birthday!
It’s working! An idea that had been conceived in the early years of The Sinneave Family Foundation (SFF) to design, build and staff a centre of innovation and activity focused on improving the lives of individuals with autism and their families, came to life in 2011 with the grand opening of their first major initiative–The Ability Hub. An anchor since the beginning has been the Resource Centre; a source of credible information and navigation for anyone to access. Since the opening, hundreds of individuals with ASD, their families, caregivers and other professionals have accessed the Resource Centre. In fact, The Resource Centre has been visited from guests from across North America and our online services have been accessed from all over the world.
SFF also partnered with the Society of Treatment for Autism (STA) in 2011 to provide life skills & vocational training for adolescents and adults with ASD. The Pursuits and Recruits program pilots were the first programming initiatives operating out of The Ability hub. Since then, over 500 families have been served by this one partnership.
Since 2011, a number of SFF activities and collaborative initiatives have been developed and run at The Ability Hub.
