For the first time in more than two years, the Alberta Seniors and Community Housing Association (ASCHA) hosted an in-person conference April 10 to 13 at Winsport in Calgary. The Next Level Convention and Trade Show’s aim was twofold: to connect more than 400 community housing organization leaders to leverage ideas and innovation, and to showcase products and services that line up with the needs of Alberta’s housing sector.

Sinneave’s Housing Specialist, John Seigner, attended the conference to explore integrating autistic individuals with seniors in supported community environments. He will be meeting with Linda Revell, CEO of Connecting Care, later in April to discuss opportunities for future developments throughout the province.

Sinneave has had significant success supporting autistic adults to live as independently as possible by actively working with affordable housing providers and support service agencies.

We maintain a current list of autistic individuals who may qualify for affordable housing so that when housing opportunities arise, we are able to quickly connect prospective tenants to housing. Some affordable housing opportunities include agreements with support service agencies for light levels of support at a modest monthly fee; others do not. We can help you to find the fit that is right for you.

If you are exploring independent living solutions Sinneave’s Housing Specialist is knowledgeable and available to assist you with your housing and supports next steps by providing information and navigating you to services and other related supports.

A Little bit about ASCHA

For more than fifty years, ASCHA has been advocating on behalf of its members, who provide a variety of housing options for Albertans. Its core roles are advocacy and member services. As a member-driven association, they act as a center of excellence for education, best practices, and member resources, to assist seniors and community housing operators in providing the very best supports to the Albertans they serve.

We have more than 100 member organizations that serve approximately 60,000 Albertans in seniors and community housing settings. ASCHA proudly champions all sectors of seniors housing, including public, private, and voluntary providers, as well as providers that offer public and non-profit community housing.
