Funding Success Story
Dr Peter Szatmari, Chief, Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the Hospital for Sick Children
Dr Peter Szatmari and a team of researchers across Canada studied hundreds of children from across Canada who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Pathways to Autism Spectrum Disorders project, the largest study of its kind around the world, looked at the developmental pathways of children with ASD. By determining key factors that influence developmental areas such as behaviour and social and communication skills, researchers will be able to use this information to help develop evidence-based programs and interventions for these children and their families.
For more information about the project, watch this video with Dr Peter Szatmari, Principal Investigator and recipient of the Patsy and Jamie Anderson Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health. This project was funding in part by The Ability Hub. More Information: http://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/46576.html
