The Individual Training Award is distinct from the Directors Scholarship – Post-secondary and has a broader application.
This award provides financial assistance for vocational or professional training that advances skills and abilities for a specific area, job or need, such as a micro-credential, that does not fit within the traditional post-secondary scholarship criteria or timeline.
Examples of training or micro-credentials include: First aid and CPR, JavaScript Coding Fundamentals, Safe food handling, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and financial literacy. A micro-credential is a small, specialized certification that focuses on a specific skill or competency desired by employers.

Variable to a maximum of $1,000. Depending on the cost of training, you can apply for a minimum award of $25 up to a maximum award of $1000.
You can apply for an Individual Training Award only once for up to a lifetime maximum of $1000.
This award is taxable income, so a recipient will be asked to provide their social insurance number for the T4A before the award can be issued.
Applications are open throughout the year until annual funding has been exhausted.
Applications will be reviewed on the 10th of each month with decisions and awards being made by the end of that month.
- 17 years of age or older.
- Have a diagnosis or self-identify as Autistic.
- Resident of Alberta.
- Recipients may receive the Individual Training Award only once up to a maximum of $1000.
- The Individual Training Award is not intended for items previously purchased.
- Individuals that are directors, officers, employees, volunteers, or student interns, during the time the application is open, and their immediate family members are not eligible to receive Sinneave scholarships and awards.
This award is open for application throughout the year, Sinneave’s Awards Committee will review monthly and recommend applicants for approval of Sinneave’s President.
Successful applicants will be notified via email.
All applicants will be notified of selection results by email. Applications will be reviewed on the 10th of each month with decisions and awards being made by the end of that month.
Payment will be issued after the award processing form that is sent with the notification letter is complete and submitted by the award recipient. A T4A will be issued for the amount of the award.
