GREAT NEWS! If you’ve recently graduated from high school, are thinking about getting a job, or require some support in enhancing your existing skills, this is the program for you!
Our next EmploymentWorks In-Person session is August 2 – 25th!
The summer cohort will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for four weeks and includes two classroom days and a half-day of job sampling sessions.
We just wrapped up our first in-person EmploymentWorks session at The Ability Hub since March 2020. After running the program virtually for more than two years, it was exciting to be able to return to an in-person program. Our Spring 2022 group consisted of 8 participants between the ages of 15 & 35, with all of them noting how great it was to be learning face-to-face and out in the community after the challenges of the previous two years.
Program Facilitator, Sherry Taylor, also noticed the change. “Each participant has come a long way over the past 12 weeks…(they are) recognizing areas of growth and opportunity, interacting with the individual dynamics of the classroom, and embracing all the skills they were exposed to.”
The Spring group visited several new employer partners for job sampling, including: Owl’s Nest Books, Sunterra and Big Box Family Entertainment. All of our employer partners were incredibly supportive of our program participants as they learned about their businesses and built key soft skills to aide them in their employment journey. Sherry also noted how the job sampling aspect of the program really enhances the overall experience, “Having participants participate in interactive activities and learn about themselves is reflective of why EmploymentWorks is so important.”
All of our program participants work hard to build their skills and prepare to enter the workforce, and we want to celebrate their accomplishments. As the current cohort draws to a close, 3 of the 8 participants have already found work. We are excited to see where their journey goes from here.
