You’re invited to join our November Women’s Group.

In each Women’s Group, we provide timely information on topics that are important to autistic women. These sessions are intended to provide a safe space for women to connect, ask questions, share stories and enjoy valuable peer connection.

In this particular session, we’ll build on previous discussions about relationships, with a focus on professional relationships, friendships in the workplace, boundary setting and tips and tricks for socializing at work. Newcomers are always welcome, as each discussion is unique.

Please note: At the end of this session, we will be welcoming Eleni Moumos, a student researcher from the University of Calgary. She will be telling the group about her study which focuses on women with disabilities and their experiences with reproductive and pregnancy care in Alberta. If participants are interested, they may connect with Eleni and ask further questions or agree to participate in her study. Eleni is simply presenting her information, as it may be applicable to some group members. If you aren’t interested to hear about the study, you are welcome to leave before her short presentation.

All are welcome no matter how you identify, however, please be aware that information and resources provided are based on female assigned at birth. All gender expressions are welcome.

You’re invited to join the Art of Parenting…with Autism.

Each Art of Parenting session focuses on different aspects of parenting through the lens of being autistic and/or parenting autistic children. Through a short presentation, discussion and activities, participants will receive encouragement, support and practical short and long term strategies for navigating parenting in the healthiest way possible, with a focus on self-care and compassion.

This particular session will cover anxiety and panic attacks and finding effective solutions to address these concerns. Each Art of Parenting session intends to educate, empower and encourage parents on their journey, as well as create a safe community of ongoing support.

If you are an autistic parent, or the parent of an autistic child, you will benefit from this information and the connection of others who share similar experiences.

We know that historically and still today, autistic women continue to be under- and mis-diagnosed. While it was originally thought the ratio of autistic males to females was 4:1, research now tells us that number is actually closer to 2:1. Many women do not receive a diagnosis well into adulthood because the stereotypes associated with autism simply don’t fit females.

This Exploration Session just for women will build off of previous sessions and discussions. We will continue to provide timely information regarding topics that are important to autistic women. In a safe and welcoming small group setting, we’ll discuss these and more, sharing information, and enjoying valuable peer connection. First timers are always welcome as each session’s topics and discussion is unique.
