Sinneave’s vision is that autistic adults live, learn, work and thrive in their communities and realize their desired futures.

To support this vision, Sinneave is pleased to offer two scholarships and the Directors Awards to eligible Albertans.

Richard Haskayne Scholarship for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize and reward the achievements of students with ASD who are enrolling in a post high school program (e.g., college, university, vocational/technical school) in Alberta. The amount and number of awards is at the discretion of The Sinneave Family Foundation. The typical disbursement is 4 scholarships of $2500.

Candidates must complete the online application and submit before midnight Mountain Time on May 29, 2022.

The Doctor Fraser Mustard Scholarship for Advancing Knowledge in the Field of Autism Spectrum Disorders

The purpose of this $5000 scholarship is honour Dr. Fraser Mustard’s many contributions and memory with an annual Scholarship to an individual pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a field that supports and furthers knowledge and/or research of autism.

Candidates must complete the online application and submit the required attachments before midnight, Mountain Time on May 29, 2022.

Directors Award

The Directors Award honours the service of both current and previous members of Sinneave’s Board of Directors. The award acknowledges that specific experiences or equipment can support youth and adults to build independence or improve quality of life, yet certain financial circumstances may restrict individuals from accessing these experiences or equipment. The Directors Award may be used to purchase items that support achieving goals in the areas of post-secondary education, employment or independent living. Examples of items that have been previously funded are vehicle repairs, first aid instructor course, rental housing deposit, household items, therapy, and clothing for work.

There are two application cycles for 2022. The next application deadline is March 31, 2022 and successful applicants will be notified via email before April 15, 2022.

Recipients may receive the Directors Award more than once to a maximum cumulative value of $1000.
